Bear Mountain Boats restores a Vintage 14 "Shottie"

I saw online that Bear Mountain Boats, known for strip plank canoes, had a restored pre-war International 14 at a outdoor boat show somewhere in Ontario last year. A very interesting transom which looks quite unlike the Bourke or Mallette 14's I've seen from that era. I sent an email to Bear Mountain last year but didn't get a reply. It's worth another try. A real beauty as can be seen by the photos.

  1. I bought my Shock-Kirby II in 1969. Had this been the state I-14 development then, I would have gone for a Thistle.

  2. Is it just the photo, or does it have a much wider flare than others of that era...? Beautiful restoration job, wd love to see it

  3. Mike,

You are right. The gunwhales do look to have a lot of flare, more than the typical Uffa design. Not sure if that is a wide angle lens on the camera.
